Welcome to my blog, 'Cipher in Cyberspace.'  For now, I'm writing and maintaining this blog to 1) assist with my memory of my hiking and backpacking trips and 2) provide commentary on politics, culture and other current events.  I hope you will find some things of interest and potentially of use in your own activities.

Presently, I don't have a page linking to my political and cultural posts, but that will be in the works.

I created a page for my (~30 day) retry of the Appalachian Trail starting on April 12-13, 2016.  That page is AT'16.   I tried to create a 'Locate Cipher' page and a near-realtime track of my hike, but failed somehow in the technical arrangements. Maybe on some future hike...

In 2015, I started with what ended up as a section hike of the AT from Amicalola Falls State Park to the northern boundary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Take a look at the page 'ATsec'15' for posts on that trip.

Take a look at the page 'Treks'14' to find my journals on my trips to Isle Royale and the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness.
